Lutz has been working for Whalley Optical since 1979. He originally started in the profession by working under his father Erich, who was a German Trained Optician. After being Certified by The Canadian Guild of Dispensing Opticians as an Optician in 1981, and Contact Lens Fitter in 1983, Lutz worked for London Optical for 7 years before taking over management of Whalley Optical in 1991. In 1998 Lutz volunteered to join the board of the Dispensing Opticians Association of BC in order to further the professionalism of Opticians in BC. The involvement with the DOABC led his election to the Board of the College of Opticians of BC where he will complete his final term in 2012.
